boromir was genuinely a good guy who cared about his people so passionately and he actually cared about the members of the fellowship and tried to teach the hobbits to swordfight and he was the only one who actually offered some comfort to gimli when he found out his cousin was dead and and he CARRIED merry and pippin up the mountain and over the broken bridge he tried to make aragorn give everyone just a few minutes to mourn gandalf and THEN when he found out the ring was corrupting his mind and that he attacked frodo he literally started crying in digust of himself and tried to apologize and then he DIED saving merry and pippin and god i am so emotional over boromir

boromir’s character makes me so sad, because honestly, he was one of the most caring in the fellowship. he understood their mission and wanted to get it done as successfully as possible, but he wanted what was best for everyone with them as well. he felt the need to care for all the hobbits, not just frodo. and when he made a mistake, it destroyed him. he saw that he was weak and that he nearly ruined everything. and he died trying to make that right. boromir is the best.

and he and gimli bitch endlessly about the run across rohan because “i had THIS MANY ARROWS in my chest i want our hobbits back but CAN WE SLEEP” and he’s 5000% shitty to rohirrim who don’t respect aragorn and he and eowyn become rampaging bffs and he gets in on the body counting at helm’s deep (“ARAGORN I’M BEHIND I’M GOING TO THE DOOR” “YOU ARE NOT GET BACK HERE”) and he and treebeard become instant kin because mi hobbit es su hobbit and he goes through the dimholt pass with aragorn and hates every single second of it but is unfailingly by his side through all of it

and then gets to minas tirith and reunites with faramir and finds out pippin is a guard of the citadel and has to go lock himself in a room and laugh for hours
