I made a quick icon for queer creators. I know I don’t have all the flags represented, I’ll do more when I get a chance.

I’ll be putting this on all of my professional websites and printing it out for when I do shows so that everyone can see that I’m a queer creator. People have turned away from a sale before when they realized I was queer, I’ve lost money before over it. I could go back to hiding but honestly- if they aren’t comfortable with my identity, then I don’t want their money.

I can’t believe I forgot: Yes! Please share and use this for yourselves. Modify it for your own flags if I forget yours. Print it out for yourself, keep a copy in your booth, put it on everything, post it to social media (credit would be nice, but honestly I just want this to be used- I won’t be hurt if it isn’t credited. My only issue is if its being distributed for profit, this isn’t meant to be sold.)

Also, if you want your own flag represented, here’s an unflagged version:

Proposal For a New Lesbian Flag

with the help of my friends, I made a new lesbian flag that has a meaning since the widespread lesbian flag we use has no meaning and was just posted as the lipstick/femme lesbian flag on a blog back in 2010. I know a lot of lesbians including myself who would rather have a flag with a meaning, so my friends & I are hoping this is gonna catch on eventually!

from top to bottom, the meanings of the colors are: loyalty/trust, freedom to love women, trans/nb lesbians, serenity, and pride/love for oneself.

after a lot of input from people on this post, I’ve realized some things that need fixing about the colors of this flag. with the help of my friends again, we’ve made modifications to the flag. the two top colors have changed to fit better together, and the flag as a whole is more saturated. thank you all for your criticisms on the flag because that helped a lot with fixing it! this is the finalized version:

since a couple of people were asking as well, it is okay to use this flag as icons/headers/etc and is okay to use without credit but I would appreciate it since the flag is fairly new. I also 100% don’t mind people who aren’t lesbians reblogging this, as long as you’re being respectful and are spreading this for your lesbian followers I appreciate it!

special thanks to @cerebrite & @maidofluck for helping me with the original flag, and @lesbistani & a friend who does not wanna be mentioned for helping with the finalized version!

Okay, hopefully that’s a good start ❤

the OP of the screenshotted tweet is on tumblr, and an author too, having put out Chameleon Moon and related stories.

I’m really relieved that both RoAnna and Heather’s books are linked on this post because if their tweets were going to be circulating around Tumblr with no way to indicate that Heather’s written a three-book (so far) fantasy series about magical lesbians and bi women in early 19th century Central Europe and RoAnna writes hopeful superhero dystopians that feature the only f/f/f triad MC’s I can think of in any book, that would have been hecking unfair.

@affablyevil, I hope that helps, but if you want more books, here’s a list I made a while ago of ten SFF f/f’s where they don’t die, and I am continually reading more and recommending more. (Have you heard of Flowers of Luna? College f/f set at fashion design college on the moon.)

[image description: a tweet from RoAnna Sylver (@RoAnna Syvler) reading “This June, please rememeber that there are more LGBT books than the ones you see everywhere put out by the Big 5, ad indies are amazing/worthy.” The next reblog is a tweet from Heather Rose Jones (@heatherrosejones) reading: “Making a list of queer SFF for Pride Month? Remember to look outside the mainstream presses. Don’t shut queer publishers out of queer lit.”]

Here’s a bunch of Goodreads lists that might help!

And some more lists, including a whole history of LGBT SFF!
